Scotland boasts the highest Library
Attendance in the UK
‘A study by the Carnegie UK Trust and Ipsos Mori found rising numbers of families in Scotland with primary school age children, occasional readers and those who are “just about managing financially” are using libraries.’
Half of the 1000 interviewed confirmed they’d used a library in the last year. Scotland retains it’s spot as the top country in the UK for library usage

BBC to cancel Radio 4 Saturday Review
BBC Radio 4 have announced they intend to cut one of their flagship arts programs, Saturday Review. The show is being cancelled to make way for a digest of Front Row, highlighting the best of the week’s program.

The Bookseller seeks class of 2017 Rising Stars
The Bookseller are requesting calls for entry to their 2017 rising stars program, saluting around 40 talented, innovative book trade professionals to single out as possible industry leaders for the future.
The Rising Stars will feature a “Shooting Star”, an individual who judges feel deserves just that little bit more recognition than others on the list. The Shooting Star 2017 will win a free trip to this year’s Frankfurt, which will also include a complimentary Business Club ticket (worth €1,050) and a one-to-one consultation with an industry leader, all courtesy of FBF.

2017 Pulitzer Prize Winners Announced
Doubleday’s Colson Whitehead took the fiction category for The Underground Railroad, with PRH’s Hisham Matar winning biography for The Return, and Crown’s Matthew Desmond taking general non-fiction for Evicted.
