A week of Saltire Literary Award panels!

What have you been up to this week? Well, for us, we held of our shadow panels for the Saltire Literary Awards 2015! A mix of students, SYP members and young professionals met up to chat about the shortlists for first book, fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Our panels discussed each book, the highs, lows and everything in between. Did people read the book differently knowing they had to judge it? Is your favourite automatically the best? Can you see why each book was shortlisted? How do you compare them?

It was a really interesting and insightful week to see how people who have never judged books like this came together and spoke, eventually picking our own winners. We’ll have to wait until the awards later this month to find out of the shadow panels agreed with the actual judging panels! We’ll have more blogs from the panelists over at the Saltire Society and on the SYP blog looking back on the experience soon. Have you read any of the shortlisted books? Who do you think should win? Let us know!

the above books to me deserve recognition due to the sensitive subject matter also they have been well sidelined by the smsm so for that reason a would vote for them a like non fiction books and really only finished song set song when it came to fiction hope you dont mind me plugging Catalyst for yous to read and review !
