The Dundee International Book Prize is a massive one, and a great opportunity for writers.  The winner is officially announced on the 21st (today!), but this is the chance to go meet and chat with the winner over some tea and cake. Lovely.

One of the major topics is the evidence that suggests that writing by and about women is still facing prejudice in the industry, and an excellent all-female panel are set to have a big discussion on this very issue. It will be an enlightening one!

We’ve all been assured that books aren’t dead, so what does the future of the book look like? Join us as we find out!

The Cover Story: The Art of Book Covers in association with the Dorothy Dunnett Society.
Saturday 24th October 4pm
Our upcoming October event is looking at book design, and it’s the topic for a chat at  Dundee Lit fest too. A great panel have joined forces for a look at the art of book covers, from conception through to digital. Going to be interesting!

Ladybird by Design
Sunday 25th October 2-3pm
Ladybird celebrate their centenary this year, and what better opportunity to look back at the culture impact of some of the most recognisable book covers in Britain. This is a must for any design fans. We’re ready to be taken back to our childhoods!

And, of course, there’s a whole host of other brilliant people there, including Matt Haig, Caroline Criado-Perez and  Nick Frost. This is just a handful of events on over the next few days, some of which we will be at, so make sure you check out the programme here for more. We’ll be blogging a round-up of the festival events we make it to for anyone who misses out. Hope to see you there!
